Metallica
According to legend (and Wikipedia) Ulrich came up with the name while brainstorming names with Ron Quintana who was looking for a name for his fanzine. Choices included MetalMania and Metallica, of which Lars decided on the later.
Dave Mustaine has also mentioned that before being called Metallica, he referred to the four members as "Four Horsemen" - in reference to the song of the same name by Gamma. The song would later be covered by Metallica for their debut album "Kill 'em All".
