The Ramones
One of the founding members, Douglas Colvin, first began calling himself "Dee Dee Ramone". The name Ramone was taken from Paul McCartney's pseudonym Paul Ramon that he used to check into motels. Douglas convinced the other members of the band to also adopt the name so they could become "The Ramones" - partly as a parody of other family bands popular at the time.
